My friend Jason Hildebrand will perform a live version of Blue Like Jazz at The Creative Soul Cafe on King street this evening. I actually flew out to Toronto a few years ago to see Jason do his first performance of the show and was pleasantly surprised at how good he was and how original his reading of the book happened to be. His take on the book is unique and the script he wrote is insightful and funny. As i watched, I forgot it had anything to do with the book I had written and it reminded me that, not unlike a song, a book often takes up a life of it’s own in the mind of others. If you happen to live in Toronto and are looking for something to do tonight, I assure you seeing Jason’s show is well worth the ticket price. Creative Soul is at 602 Queen Street West, above Mac Fab. Doors open at 7, but you might want to get there a bit early. Jason doesn’t perform the show often in his home town of Toronto, so tonight is a special night. Bring the man flowers, why don’t you. And tell him I say hello. I wish I could be there myself.
